On February 19, 2026, four team members—Eric Feng, Bohan Wang, Steven Feng, and Chasen Hu—hosted a highly successful two-hour chess learning and play session as part of the Cambridge Foundry Festival. The event’s strong turnout was evident from the start, as over ten enthusiastic participants were already waiting for the team to set up, 10 minutes before the session was scheduled to begin.

The session attracted over 30 festival participants, including both children and adults, all eager to learn and play. The diverse skill levels necessitated a flexible approach to teaching the event’s topic, “Discover your chess Pathway: Learning Tactics, Simple Openings and Smart Play.”

  • Beginners: Several children learned the fundamental rules of chess and played their first games.
  • Intermediate Players: Participants focused on basic tactics and simple openings.
  • Advanced Players: Some advanced children posed questions on how to effectively avoid opening traps.
  • Adult Engagement: Several parents joined in the games alongside the team members, adding to the fun and engaging atmosphere.

The positive feedbacks and high level of participation proved the success of the session in promoting community connection through the game of chess. The team looks forward to future opportunities to engage with the community and share the enjoyment of chess.
